Do people judge you right of the bat for having a record?

i think its a shame how people just instantly judge you if you tell them about your criminal record. believe it or not I'm a pretty damn good guy despite the things I have gotten trouble for. I was easily dragged down by some jerks and it's hurt my past, but i think its so lame how people think they are better and judge you and stuff
