Is it possible that electric dipole experience only torque not any force in NON-UNIFORM ELECTRIC FIELD?

PLZZ THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE ANSWER...i have a question..if an electric diploe is placed parallel to a string having charged uniformly,what will happen in this case..the dipole will experience force or not???
